From Coma to Canvas

I was lucky enough a few weeks ago to meet a very nice young man named Gary Brennan.  He came into my store asking if I would be interested in selling his paintings.  He pulled up a couple of pictures on his phone to show me and I was was quite impressed.  Now I’m no art critic but I know what I like and yes I liked these, so I said sure bring a couple in and we’ll give it a go.  At the time I had no idea about his back story…

Gary had been in a severe accident that cause brain injury and coma.  After coming out of his coma he picked up a brush and started painting.  I asked him if he had painted before the accident and he told me that he used to do a bit of drawing but never had much patience for it.  Gary worked hard at his recovery and this is just one part of the phenomenal results he has achieved.  As a way of thanking doctors, nurses & neurological team of the hospital where he recoverd, a portion of the proceeds from Gary’s paintings will go to the Grey Bruce Regional Hospital Neurological Rehabilitation Centre.

Now have a peek at Gary’s work.  Please be sure to leave me a comment and let me/us know what you think.
