Happy Birthday Theodore Geisel :)

Yep, Dr. Seuss was born on this day in 1904 in Srpingfield Massachusetts!  What would our childhood have been like without him.  My absolute FAVORITE Dr. Seuss

story is How The Grinch Stole Christmas.  I have to watch it every year or it just doesn’t feel like Christmas for me!  I have the book, the DVD and the CD and I’ll never get tired of it!  Although I must admit that I’m not very fond of the Jim Carrey version.  FYI, did you know that the singer of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” was also the voice of Tony The Tiger.  That gentleman’s name was Thurl Ravenscroft.  He is was part of the chorus on the other two songs also.  He never received a credit for voicing the songs for The Grinch because they just plain forgot!!

Dr. Seuss did so much more than just write the silly children’s books we all know and love.  He was a graduate of Oxford University in England, worked for a magazine called Judge, joined the army in WWII and wrote and illustrated 44 books.  Seven universities granted him doctorates in literature and fine arts!  Sadly he died September 24th, 1991.
